When's the Best Time for a Massage

How do you spell relief? M-A-S-S-A-G-E

I love a massage after I've been working at the computer all day. Working in the yard tends to get me loostened up, but that computer time really puts the curve in my back.

I recommend a good massage after a hard day pushing keyboard buttons.

But be sure to take a significant other or friend with you to drive. What's the use of a good massage if you get all tense driving back home?

Better yet, many massage therapists will bring their table to our home. Sure you have to have a clean room for them to set up in, but imagine rolling off the table, into a nice hot bath and then bed!

Now that's massage heaven!

Cheers,
Beth

Massage for the Mind

Have you ever experienced the Sunset of a lifetime?

A couple nights ago we had a sunset that was so clear and colorful it was unbelievable. If someone painted that sunset you would never beleive it was painted from life. Several days later everyone in my small town is still talking about it.

Then the next day I saw a beautiful curlew (shore bird) fishing in the reeds.

It got me to thinking about massage. I get a massage to work out the kinks and get me in touch with my body. But what about the kinks in my mind and spirit.

I think that cherishing these beautiful moments is like a massage of the mind. It reminds us how lucky we are to be here and lets all those knots let go.

I hope that you enjoy many, many massages... but I also hope you enjoy daily massages of the mind.

Hot Rock Massage

I thought that hot rocks were just a cool looking thing in the movies. I didn't think that they would make a massage that much different. Now it depends on whether you have a good massage therapist in the first place. Hot rocks will not improve a bad therapist, but they do a a certain something to a good massage.

Have you ever noticed with a good massage therapist how their hands will heat up during a massage? Then their hands seem to penetrate deeper and help smooth out the muscles better.

Well hot rocks kind of give that heat from the very beginning. The heat from the rock penetrates deeply into the muscle. The smooth rocks glide over the skin and the tense muscles. Its like they help the therapist's hands give a deep tissue massage with less resistance.

And then they use the rocks on your trigger points. I won't go much into trigger points here. They are tense knots in the muscles that radiate over your body and cause pain. Because they radiate, the cause of the pain may not be where you expect it. A good massage therapist can find those points and get them to release. I find trigger points help relieve my migraines.

The twist with the hot rocks is that they put the heated rock directly on the trigger point and then lightly tap it with another rock. The little shock startles the muscle and makes it release. I've had this done with little electric shocks (like at the chiropractor) but I really like how it worked with the hot rocks. The heat pentrated deep and the vibration really helped.

If you've never tried a hot rock massage, then I highly recommend it!

Interactive Health Get-a-Way Massage Recliner

The Interactive Health Get-a-Way Massage Recliner has got to be the most relaxing chair I have ever tried out.

Have you ever used one of those Shiatsu massage machines? It's like two hands kneading your back. One of my friends always said that she wanted to get one of those machines and nail it to the wall so that she could do her own back. Her husband was never around enough to help her when her back was hurting.

Well, now she can have it all. Most chairs just have a lame roller in the back that goes up and down. This chair has a shiatsu machine to go up and down. All you do is sit there and it does the work.

It heats up those tired muscles, virbates the kinks out and massages the heck out of your stress. It even works on the legs. My husband has that restless leg syndrome and this is the only chair that gives him any relief (and that's a relief to my aching hands!).

I've had hundreds of massages (I like to be a guinea pig at massage schools) and this chair is better than some massages I've had a good salons. It will never replace a good hot rock massage, but it's much better than your run of the mill massage - and it's on call 24/7!!!

Here are the specs. Try one. You'll be amazed and sooooooooooooo relaxed :-)

Beth

"Combining the therapeutic power of robotic massage with precisely balanced air pressure, the Get-A-Way Elite massage therapy chairs offer eight preset modes on an LCD display; five health care programs covering everything from Shiatsu acupressure to lower-back tension to full body relief; and well-being programs, including an invigorating morning massage and a nighttime option for the ultimate way to unwind, all at the touch of a button.

The interactive health massage chairs also have a manual selection mode, so you can easily personalize your massage for kneading, rolling, tapping and many other combinations. Automatic power recline takes you from 120 degrees to an almost horizontal position, while the fully-powered air massage footrest automatically raises, lowers and extends. Even the interactive health massage chair’s padded armrests offer rhythmic, vibrating massage. 45"H x 29"W x 47"D (68" fully reclined)."

Massage Chairs to the Rescue!

Not all of us have the time to go and get a massage (besides, by the time you drive home, your all in knots again!) or the ability to have a mssage therapist come to our home.

Enter the amazing massage chair revolution. Sure they take up a bit of space, but you can come home every night and know that you will be totally relaxed before you hit the sheets. Those expensive mattresses can do their job a whole lot better if you start relaxed!

So let me hear your thoughts. I've been searching for the perfect massage chair. Do you have any advice? What is absolutely essential and what's just noisy bells and whistles?

Click on the comments and send me a jingle. Can't wait to hear what you have to say and I'll even share what I learn too!
